How does the Rave stay open?

So we go to see Black Swan (excellent, by the way) which unfortunately was only playing at the Rave.

I've been to the Rave maybe 3 times since it's opening a while back.  Last night's tally for a Popcorn Combo and 2 tickets: $36.75.

Suffice to say, that will be the last time we go there.  Peoria Theater and Willow get 99 % of our business, it's just the 1% that I go to the Rave really pisses me off.

Lesson learned, again.

  1. We love going to the Rave for first release and 3-D movies. Their combos usually include free refills, we think the theaters are cleaner than the others and the seats are way more comfortable. I guess you could break it down this way, it cost you less than $10 an hour for your entertainment...still cheaper than a lot of other entertainment options in the area. We generally stick to the Pekin 14 for the average weekend movie (2 adults and 2 kids).

  2. Never could understand the "free refills" they offer. I mean who wants to leave the theater, walk all the way back to the concessions and wait in line? By the time you get back you have missed 5 to 10 minutes of the movie. Granted, missing that much on some movies makes no difference but in a who dunnit or a keep your eye on the ball type movie, who leaves?

  3. Anonymous, the cost of tickets for a family of 4 at Willow vs Rave automatically pays for a combo at Willow. No way anyone should be charged 18.75 for a 2 drink popcorn combo.

Comfortable seats and cleanliness don't justify that kind of price difference. And it's probably even cheaper at Peoria Cinema. I've never left a theater and thought "those seats are uncomfortable" or "that place was a pigsty".

And wait a few weeks for a new movie and it will show up somewhere other than the Rave.
