Check out this article in todays PJStar.
Does this quote strike anyone else as odd?
"It's very frustrating to see all the growth there," said School Board member Mary Spangler. "For some, they are looking for Dunlap schools, but some others have no idea they are not in District 150. They're just looking for a new neighborhood to live in."
Is she serious?
Does she think families are just simply "looking for a new neighborhood to live in" and then after moving proclaim "Whoops, we're not in the 150 school district anymore! Looks like we'll have to go to Dunlap schools."
Mary, that is the exact reason why people are leaving the city!!! They don't want to send their kids to 150!!! Maybe some more consultants or administrators should be hired to study this phenomenon. I mean, this is something new right?
The decision to homeschool is validated weekly by this bunch. As a matter of fact, this quote pretty much encapsulates the problem with 150: Out of touch with reality.
