How about this reason for a tax increase?

The Anti-Pundit left a comment regarding the Museum tax. He brought up the fact that the sewer issue will be on the table soon and have to be paid for somehow.

What about a tax increase for that project? I would be behind that.

The Museum should be left for another day, when the basics of the city have been taken care of.

  2. I want to know exactly who's behind this, why they're fronting like it's a done deal and why the city lets them put up banners on city street lights.

  3. Vonster, thanks for checking in.

I'm sure the same people are behind this that are behind every major decision in the city. Kind of like that X-Files episode where the 10 guys meet to decide world decisions.

I will now take off the tin foil hat.

  4. When I saw those banners, I thought the same thing. Something like that, something that's coming up on a referendum, well... I guess anyone can pay for the advertising. Who's call is it ultimately? The city? I'm all for the museum, the tax, whatever, but still, the banners made for some very interesting inner monologue.

  5. It's simple why the County Board has jump behind this (except maybe Widmer). If you'll notice, on the ballot April 7th, the referendum will NOT say "Build the Block" but will simply say or ask if you support a "public infrastructure" (something to that effect) tax, which means if passed, maybe the museum will be built but the tax will never go away as this will be a way for the County to help fund BelWood Nursing Home. Once a tax is on the books, they never go away, ever.
