Jacko's heart tells him to "Beat It".........

That's a big winner for anyone who had him in a death pool.

Cardiac arrest? Brought on by what?

That karma's a bitch.

Is it just this state?.......

We all know of the problems with higher taxes and D150's problems, but has anyone been keeping tabs on Chicago?

Not only are their sales and property taxes huge, now hizzoner, Mayor Daley II (squeaky) has now guaranteed to the IIOC that the city will pick up the tab on any cost overages from hosting the Olympics.

Given that the construction of Millenium Park was waaaaay over budget, I'm sure this one will come in right on target. I'm also sure that no one that is related to or buddies with Mayor Daley will profit from any part of this.

That has big-time train wreck potential, given that Montreal just paid off their bills for hosting the Olympics......in 1976!

Good luck, Chicagoans.

Time to put on the tinfoil hat........

C.J. and Billy both have good posts on just how decisions are arrived at by the City Council.

Here's the two options presented by C.J.:

  1. The council members are skirting the Open Meetings Act and deliberating these issues out of the public eye. (Note I said “skirting,” not “violating.”) This is Billy’s theory. He suggests that decisions are made “during phone calls and emails, and during social events.” Conflicts exist, but they are being resolved in secret.
  2. The council members are blindly following the recommendations of staff or the district council person without thinking through or deliberating the issue at all. Council members avoid conflict by not thinking.
I would lean toward option 1. Any thoughts?

Why is everybody always picking on me?.....

It seems some 150 school board members are upset.

Here's the funniest quote from the article, courtesy of Mary Spangler (who I think might be some sort of android):

""The gloom and doom is out there. . . . People throw things out, but don't put anything substantial (out there)," Spangler said. "When we have public officials bashing our school district, how do we get the public support to do what we need to do?"

Hmmm.....well maybe don't try and make major decisions behind closed doors, involve the public, stop buying up homes, look into downsizing management......I'm not sure why Mary is complaining, there is the "It's Better Here" campaign.

I'm curious if Spangler honestly believes that 150 is in good shape. Then again, she was the one who put out the theory that some families mistakenly move into the Dunlap School District.
